My Approach to Psychotherapy

Going   through   difficult   life   experiences   can   leave   you   feeling   helpless,   lonely,   and   vulnerable.   The   ability   to   trust that   change   in   yourself   and   others   is   possible   is   often   shattered.   In   psychotherapy,   we   will   not   only   attempt   to discover   the   roots   of   your   emotional   strain,   more   so,   I   hope   to   create   an   honest   and   a   supportive   space   for   you where    we    can    risk    deep    engagement    with    your    emotions    and    self-experience.    We    will    work    closely    and collaboratively   to   open   up   and   confront   the   patterns,   fears   and   reactions   that   underlie   your   difficulties   so   that   new pathways   can   emerge.   At   times,   this   process   may   be   emotionally   demanding,   but   together   we   will   work   hard   to stay true to the overriding goal of psychotherapy:  for the client to experience meaningful transformation. The   benefit   of   being   in   psychotherapy   is   much   like   finding   a   home   in   a   deserted   landscape.   The   home,   with   its rooms,   corners,   and   corridors,   not   only   represents   those   hidden   parts   of   you   that   we   will   inhabit   and   explore;   it   is also a metaphor for the intimate home that you will create with another person, your therapist. Some of my psychotherapeutic services include: Brief Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy   Short-term and Long-term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Relational and Intersubjective Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy)   Couple's Therapy (Emotion-focused and Attachment-based)

Special Interests

Sex and Porn Addiction Drug Addiction and Alcoholism Eating Disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating and weight concerns) Depression and Suicidality Panic Disorder and Anxiety Body-builders, Athletes, Gymnasts  Sexual Identity and LGBT Mental Health Concerns Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse Borderline Personality Disorder and Self-harming Behaviour I also offer supervision to other therapists wanting to learn more about contemporary psychoanalytic (relational, intersubjective, self-psychological) theory and technique.
